NRA Basic Rifle

The NRA Basic Rifle Course teaches the knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary for the safe use of a rifle in target shooting.  This course is at least 14 hours long and includes classroom and range time learning to shoot rifles.  Participants will learn the NRA's rules for safe gun handling; rifle parts and operation; ammunition; shooting fundamentals; range rules; shooting from the bench rest, prone, sitting, standing and kneeling positions; cleaning, and continued opportunities for skill development. Students will receive the Basics of Rifle Shooting handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification booklet, take a Basics of Rifle Shooting Student Examination, and will receive a course completion certificate.

Our cadre of NRA Certified Rifle Instructors will teach this course.  Depending on the class size and participant's ability, the instructors may adjust lesson time to assure sufficient repetitions to develop skills.

1. Rifle Knowledge and Safe Gun Handling

2. Ammunition Knowledge and the Fundamental of Safe Rifle Operations

3. Fundamentals of Rifle Marksmanship

4. Proper Cleaning and Storage of all types of Rifles

5. Firing the First Shots

6. Shooting Sports and related activities along with advice on selection of a Rifle

 

The course fee of $90 includes all training materials, targets, range time, and instructor fee.  Ammunition is NOT provided.
